2025 Alaska Breastfeeding Conference Scholarship Applications

Thanks to the generous support of the State of Alaska, the North Star scholarship is available to
support a lactation or maternal and young child health worker’s participation and attendance at
the upcoming conference. The vision of the Alaska Breastfeeding Coalition is to provide support
to dedicated individuals who are new, emerging, or aspiring breastfeeding leaders, actively
promoting maternal and child health, and breastfeeding support in their communities.
Alaska Native individuals and/or those who are actively involved in collaborative efforts to
support breastfeeding in underserved Alaska Native communities are especially encouraged to
apply. Additionally, preference will be given to applicants who have never attended an ABC
Conference and for whom attendance may not be possible without this support. To apply for the
scholarship, you must be an Alaska Breastfeeding Coalition member, and you must live and
work in Alaska. The coalition membership fee is only $10, and you may join by following the

Applications must be received by the stated deadline; March 1st, 2025 (with notification of winning by March 15th) for the April 2025 conference in Anchorage. Late applications will not be accepted. Applications will be acknowledged when received via email: president@alaskabreastfeeding.org

The Alaska Breastfeeding Coalition (ABC) Scholarship Committee will review all applications and select the recipient based upon set criteria.

All applicants for the North Star Scholarship will be notified of the decision of the committee no later than March 15th, 2025. This will allow time for those applicants not selected to book by the reduced early registration deadline of March 24th.

The recipient of the scholarship must attend the April 2025 conference. Scholarships are not transferrable.

The award covers the cost of attendance on-site, a value of $325. Consideration will be given for travel and housing assistance as our budget allows. At this time, however, ABC cannot commit to covering travel/housing expenses.
